Ukraine u21 have been poor recently, they’ve had a dismal qualifying campaign so far and it looks near impossible for them to reach the final tournament being 8 points behind 2nd. France on the other hand are in 1st and should have more motivation for a win here as it will put them one step closer to qualifying.
A couple of year ago, Ukraine had some decent young players coming through and the u21 side were performing well (around 2014). Some of those players have moved up now though and the current crop of players don’t look so good. Although they do have some players with great potential still like Zinchenko (recently signed for Man City but went straight out on loan to PSV), but he is missing for this game anyway. They’ll also be missing Kovalenko and Yurchenko who again are their better players and a few others. They’re basically missing their key players, especially in midfield which is definitely a concern when they’re playing a side like France - pretty much all of Ukraine’s squad are players who are at local club sides in Ukraine.
France have great quality in their side as you would expect. They have Haller up top, which it was very surprising that a side didn’t sign him in the summer. He has been tearing up the Dutch league and has started the season very well again. Dembele from Dortmund is also present, as is PSG’s Rabiot. France’s squad is certainly considerably stronger than Ukraine’s.
Can’t see how France don’t win this game. They’re a lot stronger than a full strength Ukraine, and with several missing for Ukraine, it should be easier for France to find the victory. Prediction: 0-2 or 1-3.
